The Back 40 is Bella Vista’s signature trail system — roughly 40 miles of soft-surface singletrack winding through the wooded hills on the east side of town. Built primarily for mountain biking but loved by hikers too, it’s one of the crown jewels of Northwest Arkansas’s OZ Trails network.
The Trails
The 21-mile Back 40 Loop encircles the whole network, with additional miles of trails crisscrossing the interior so you can build a ride of almost any length. It’s regularly rated the most popular (and most challenging) trail system in Bella Vista, with flowing descents, technical features, and beautiful Ozark scenery throughout. Trailheads & Access
Blowing Springs Park is a popular trailhead and gateway into the system, with parking and creekside camping. The Back 40 connects into the wider OZ Trails network, so you can link rides across the region.
Cost & Good to Know
The trails are free to ride and hike. Bring water, watch for two-way trail traffic, and check conditions after rain.
